Silky Gomboy Curve 300 Review: Best Folding Saw for 2025?
Best Folding Saw for 2025 or not?
When it comes to building a solid outdoor kit, few tools are as versatile and underrated as a quality folding saw. After field testing, I can confidently say the Silky Gomboy earns a permanent spot in my pack. Whether you're clearing trail, processing firewood, or setting up camp, this saw is the most effectivesaw that I have used yet.
First Impressions
Right out of the box, the Silky Gomboy has a clean, professional look. It folds up neatly and is lightweight. The rubberized handle has excellent grip, even with wet hands or while wearing gloves. The locking mechanism clicks firmly into place.
Field Performance
Let’s talk cutting power. The Gomboy uses Silky’s trademark impulse hardened teeth, which are wicked sharp and designed for a pull cut motion. Compared to other folding saws I’ve used, this thing glides through green and dry wood with minimal effort. Limbs, saplings, and logs up to 4-5 inches? No problem.
It’s efficient, and way less taxing than swinging a hatchet for the same job. Plus, there’s something satisfying about the surgical precision of the cuts this blade delivers.
Durability & Portability
The carbon steel blade resists rust well if you keep it clean, and the handle shows little wear after heavy use. Folding it down to about a foot long, it stows easily in a daypack or clips to your gear with a carabiner.
You can get different blade sizes (mine is the 240mm), but they all fold up compact and carry light.
What It’s Best For
Backpacking & camping: Fire prep, clearing tent spots, trail maintenance
Bushcraft & survival: Shelter building, notching, quick cuts
Everyday carry (EDC) for people who spend a lot of time outdoors: Lightweight, reliable, always ready
What to Watch Out For
It’s a pull-cut saw, so if you’re used to push-cut tools, there’s a learning curve.
The blade is strong but flexible, so avoid twisting it mid-cut.
Replacement blades are a little pricey, for a few more bucks you can puchase another saw. Bu the time you wear out a blade on this saw you've earned a new saw!
Final Thoughts
In my opinion the Silky Gomboy Curve 300 is the best saw in 2025. It has become one of my favorite pieces of gear, not just because it works well, but because it makes every task smoother and more enjoyable. It’s compact, tough, and cuts like a dream. At a price of $91 on Amazon it is certainly not budget gear, but it is quality gear and worth the price. If you spend time in the woods, this saw belongs in your kit without a doubt.
